Cranberry Mocktail: Orange and Rosemary Spritz

A cranberry mocktail can be tart or sweet depending on the juice you buy.

Serving inspiration from the ProstZero drink collection: crimson crush cooler

A cranberry mocktail can be tart or sweet depending on the juice you buy. This version uses cranberry juice drink. Orange rounds it out, soda lengthens it and a small rosemary sprig adds aroma.

The quantities make one serving. Measure the ingredients before mixing and chill any mixer. Syrups, juices and bottled alternatives vary in sweetness and acidity, so taste the base before topping up.

Ingredients for one serving

  • 80 ml cranberry juice drink
  • 40 ml orange juice
  • 80 ml soda
  • 5 ml lemon juice if needed
  • Ice
  • Small rosemary tip

Method

  1. Mix cranberry and orange in the glass.
  2. Taste and add lemon only if needed.
  3. Add ice and soda.
  4. Lightly press rosemary between your hands and use as garnish.

Getting the balance right

Unsweetened pure cranberry juice is much more tart than many juice drinks. Start with 40 ml and add 40 ml water, then check sweetness. Avoid grinding rosemary for a long time because it can overpower the fruit.

Variation and substitutions

For a winter direction, replace orange with apple juice and garnish with a cinnamon stick. For more ginger, replace 40 ml soda with non-alcoholic ginger beer.

Preparing several servings

Measure juice, purée and syrup shortly before serving. Add ice and carbonated ingredients when you make the drink. To serve a group, multiply the quantities, but adjust one glass first before mixing the whole pitcher.

Common question

Can dried cranberries replace the juice?

No. They do not quickly supply the same liquid and acidity. Use them sparingly as garnish if desired.
